Dear Laurel Elementary Families,

As the principal of Laurel Elementary School, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Laurel for the 2021-2021school year.  Whether you are new to us in kindergarten, coming to us from another school or a returning family, we are glad you are here and excited to welcome kids to the building soon. The Laurel staff is incredibly talented and creative.  I know that they work tirelessly so that our kiddos feel welcomed, respected and connected to their learning community.  Our staff is highly skilled in collaborating to weave together a program that is rich in challenges, supports, wonder and curiosity so that students are engaged and grow, socially, emotionally and academically. Building level teams have been busy this week planning for the return of students, refining systems, and preparing for a great start.  At Laurel, we truly believe that we are creating the future each and every day!

Meet the Teacher - Supply Drop Off -  Thursday, September 2nd from 1:00 to 2:00

Meet the Teacher - Supply Drop 9/2/21

On Thursday, September 2nd from 1:00 to 2:00, you and your child may visit the school, meet your teacher, see the classroom and drop off supplies.  Supplies for the year are:

• Student backpack
• 2 boxes facial tissue
• 2 packages unscented wipes
• 1 ream copier paper
• 1 bottle hand sanitizer
• $35 supply and activity contribution

The Junction City Fire Department will have a fire truck and the fire dog at Toftdahl Park and distribute free masks for kids and adults.  

While visiting on this day, all students and adults are required to follow the masking mandate and physical  distancing guidance (3 feet) while inside the building and keep classroom visits brief.  Teachers will communicate ways for you to connect with them to share information about your child.  If you are interested in scheduling a time to talk with the teacher individually, you may contact them by email or call the office at 541-998-2386.

First Day of School 9/7/21

Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 7th.  On this day, you may walk your student into the building and to the classroom door if you choose.  We ask that you drop your child to the classroom door only, allowing for instruction and classroom routines to start promptly once they pass through their classroom doors. 

Please wear your mask and practice physical distancing of 3 feet while at school on this day.

Note that after drop off on the first day of school, we will again be restricted in allowing visitors and volunteers into the building.  We are working on plans to allow this in the future and will communicate more when that is possible.

School Schedule

We are returning to our regular school schedule, M, T, TH, & F: 8:00- to 2:35.  Wednesdays students will be dismissed from school at 1:50.  Early dismissal allows teachers to participate in professional development and collaboration to support and improve instruction.  The only exceptions to this will be on September 8th and November 24th.  These two Wednesdays will be full days, with students being dismissed at 2:35. 

Breakfast and Lunch are FREE for ALL LAUREL STUDENTS this year.  We will share a menu soon!

Student Drop off and Pick up at Laurel

Arrival: Bus riders will be released from the buses and be guided to the appropriate entrance for them by staff.  All students will be screened by staff for covid symptoms before entering the building.  

Students arriving by car, bike or walking should come to the front of the building where our procedure will be very similar to the spring.  Please watch for grade level signs and direct your student to the appropriate location.  There they will be checked in by staff and sent to the appropriate location for entry to the building.  We will open doors.  Please accompany your child until 7:45 as we have limited supervision prior to that. If your child walks or bikes, please plan for them to arrive between 7:45 and 8:00.

Dismissal: Bus riders will be released at 2:35, and will promptly load the bus.  Parents picking up students will once again utilize curbed car line in front of the school we used last year or wait at the curb on foot for your child to be released. Please understand that we take the safety of  all our kids seriously and only release them only to people approved by their parent/guardian.  If you approve someone to pick up your child, please communicate that to the office or teacher.  Also inform that person that we may ask to confirm their ‘pick-up approval status’ before releasing the child.

NOTE - This arrival and dismissal plans may change as we monitor traffic patterns and  make adjustments

Queridas Familias de la Escuela Primaria Laurel,

Como director de la Escuela Primaria Laurel, es un gran placer darle la bienvenida a Laurel para el año escolar 2021-2022. Si eres nuevo en kinder, o llegas con nosotros de otra escuela o una familia regresando, estamos contentos y emocionados de darle la bienvenida a los niños al edificio pronto. El personal de Laurel es increíblemente talentoso y creativo. Se que trabajaran duro para que nuestros niños se sientan cómodos, respetados y conectados a su comunidad de aprendizaje. Nuestro personal está altamente calificado colaborando para juntar un programa que será abundante en retos, apoyos, maravillas y curiosidad para que los estudiantes se involucren y crezcan, socialmente, emocionalmente, y académicamente. Construyendo equipos de niveles ha sido difícil esta semana de planear para el regreso de los estudiantes, mejorando sistemas, y preparándonos para un gran comienzo. En Laurel, realmente creemos que estamos creando un futuro cada día!

Conocer Maestro/a - Entregar Útiles Escolares - Jueves, 2 de septiembre de 1:00 a 2:00

Primer Dia de Clases - Martes, 7 de septiembre

Conocer Maestro/a - Entregar Útiles Escolares 9/2/21

El jueves, 22 de septiembre de 1:00 a 2:00, usted y su hijo/a pueden visitar la escuela, conocer a su maestro/a, ver el salón de clase y entregar útiles. Los útiles para el año son:

• Mochila para estudiante
• 2 cajas de tejidos
• 2 paquetes de toallitas sin fragancia
• 1 paquete de papel de copiadora
• 1 botella de desinfectante
• $35 supply and activity contribution

El Departamento de Bomberos de Junction City tendrá un camión de bomberos y un perro en Toftdahl Parl y distribuirán cubrebocas para niños y adultos. 

Mientras visita ese mismo día, todos los estudiantes y adultos se les requerirá de seguir la orden de cubrebocas y la regla de distanciamiento físico (3 pies) mientras estén dentro del edificio y mantener las visitas de salón breves. Los maestros comunicaran maneras para que usted se conecte con ellos para compartir información sobre su hijo/a. Si está interesado en programar una hora para hablar con el/la maestro/a individualmente, usted puede contactarlos por correo electrónico o llamar a la oficina al 541-998-2386.

Primer Dia de Clases 9/7/21

Nuestro primer día de clases es el martes, 7 de septiembre. En este día, usted puede caminar a su estudiante al edificio y a la puerta de su salón si desea. Les pedimos que solamente dejen a su hijo/a en su salón, permitiendo instrucción y rutinas de clases que comienzan a tiempo en cuando pasen por las puertas de su salón. 

Favor de ponerse su cubreboca y practicar distanciamiento físico de 3 pies mientras esté en la escuela por ese día. 

En cuanto deje el primer día de clases, de nuevo tendremos restricciones en permitir visitas y voluntarios en el edificio. Estamos trabajando en planes para permitir esto en el futuro y comunicarnos más cuando sea posible. 

Horario Escolar

Estamos regresando a nuestro horario escolar regular, lunes, martes, jueves y viernes: 8:00 a 2:35. Los miércoles los estudiantes saldrán de clases a la 1:50. La salida temprana permite a los maestros participar en desarrollo profesional y colaboración para apoyar y mejorar la instrucción. Las únicas excepciones a esto serán el 8 de septiembre y el 24 de noviembre. Estos dos miércoles serán días completos, los estudiantes saldrán a las 2:35. 

 

Desayuno y Almuerzo son GRATIS para TODOS los ESTUDIANTES DE LAUREL este año. Compartiremos un menú pronto!

Dejar a los estudiantes

Llegada: Los que van en el autobús saldrán de los autobuses y se guiarán a la entrada apropiada por el personal. Todos los estudiantes se revisarán por síntomas de covid por el personal antes de entrar al edificio.

Los estudiantes llegando por carro, bicicleta o caminando deben ir a la entrada principal del edificio donde nuestro procedimiento será muy similar a la primavera. Favor de ver nuestros letreros de nivel de grado y dirige a su estudiante al lugar apropiado. Abriremos las puertas. Favor de acompañar a su hijo/a antes de las 7:45 tal como tenemos supervisión limitada antes de esa hora. Si su hijo/a camina o anda en bicicleta, favor de planear que lleguen entre las 7:45 y las 8:00.

Despedida: Los que van en el autobús saldrán a las 2:35, y se suben al autobús. Los padres que recogen a sus estudiantes de nuevo utilizaran la línea de carros por la banqueta enfrente de la escuela como usamos el año pasado o esperar en la curva si camina por su hijo para que salga. Favor de entender  que tomamos la seguridad de todos nuestros niños en serio y solamente se los entregamos a personas aprobadas por su padre/tutor. Si aprueba a alguien en recoger a su hijo/a, favor de comunicarle eso a la oficina o maestro/a. También informar a la persona que le podremos preguntar que confirme su “estado de aprobación para recoger” antes de entregarle al niño.

AVISO - Los planes de llegada y despedida pueden cambiar mientras monitoreamos el tráfico y hacemos ajustes.

Estoy emocionado y honrado en ser parte de este equipo de familias y personal que están haciendo gran trabajo para crear una generación de pensadores y realizadores con buenos futuros y potencia ilimitada. Esta comunidad y nuestros niños son increíbles! Gracias por todo lo que hacen por hacer la Escuela Primaria Laurel un maravilloso lugar para enseñar y aprender para todos.
