Ms. Haxby's Fourth Grade Class 2019-2020 Assignments

**For any of the campfire activities this week, make sure a trusted ADULT is with you at all times during the process**
If you do not have a safe place in which to build a fire at your home, please DO NOT try do this assignment, and wait until you have an opportunity to safely do so. You can still watch the videos if this is the case.

1. Make sure to review the Safety rules of building a campfire
2. Watch this video, and gather your materials needed to build a fire
(firepit, Tinder, Kindling, Firewood, water, lighter/matches, )
3. Keep materials in a safe place. Then watch tomorrow's video of how to build a successful fire!

Students:
The following video contains some pretty awesome rapping skills by yours truly (Ms. McIvor) . Please feel free to recommend me for any rapping industry or contracts in the future.

Directions:
1. Watch this video
2. Review the safety rules in your packet (1.Prevent wildfires, 2. Be cautious/careful, 3. Never play with matches or lighters, 4. Watch your campfire at all times 5. Put your fire out properly)
3. Create your own rap about the 5 rules of Campfire Safety!
4. Record your video of you rapping (optional)
4. Email Ms. McIvor your rap video (optional)

1. Watch the "How To Survive" and "How to Build a Sheet Fort" videos and lesson.
2. View the Google Slides of different types of forts that can be built with household items.
3. Choose a type of fort you would like to build, or create your own plan.
~Write down the materials you used and directions on how you built your fort.
4. Take a picture of your finished fort and email it to your teacher along with your materials and directions!
5. Mark your assignment as DONE when completed or send your teacher a private message saying DONE.

The genre we are working with this week is expository.
