hello 2nd graders I hope you guys are having such a great week is beautiful out there so I hope you're spending some time outside on Wednesday I posted a review of the reading from our packet and today I'm going to talk a little bit about show inside the first couple pages are math fact fluency there's some games more flinty but what I want to talk to you today is the peaches. and I'm sure you remember this is the review of addition and subtraction with regrouping and if you go back to the beginning you'll see a page like that and this just explains the process of doing it the place value chart subtraction the vertical way I'm going to share my screen so you can see it alright so here is a place value chart and today we're going to be adding 365 + 219 what do we do first we need to add in the bigger number and the bigger number is 365 300 text 5 6 I want one perfect now we need to add the other number so it will start with 200 110 + 9 ones are right 1 2 3 score 7 what's the next thing if you got stuff to go back to the page we draw on both parts on the place value chart my click on it you can count with me one two three four five six seven eight nine 10 11 12 13 14 and 1 do I have an ester group I do still 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Cirque Go Home Alone 1 2 3 4 5 6 because 10 ones is the same thing as now we count 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1 2 3 4 5 that means there's five 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1 / / so that means the answer is 584 can I just write the vertical right now + 9 think about that in your head it's 14 that's Fargo's down here 6 + 1 + 168 3 + 2 is fox now I think 584 and you know I like to do a big star and subtraction now all right with the traction The Bachelorette shirt set my problem on the vertical on the bigger number or 6 * 1 four five six next it says do I have enough ones to subtract so we have three ones and we need to take 2 away can we do it we have six tens can we take 9 away so what we have to do is unbundling hundreds we're going to cross us a hundred and three four five six seven eight nine ten is ten ten is the same thing as 100 so now we can take 9 away 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 leftovers we have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 we need to take 100 away 3 * answer 371 so we have three take away two is 1 but we can't run away from 5 that leaves for bring that hundred over here so now I have 16 - 9 thinking ahead 16 - 9 at 7 we have four- which is three let's go back and see if they match 371/370 start in yellow awesome so as you go through your pocket there's going to be a couple of pages with review problems like that you have three on this page three on this page and a couple more pages that says MSN love you so if you get stuck go back this will really help you and if you're really stuck then you can watch the video again and follow along with me you can pause it as I go and if you need help remember you can contact me at those office hours times Monday play Friday from 10 to 11 thank you guys I hope to hear from you soon
